Oh oh ohoh! And on the Gourmet Lit front! I and @
youthculture have the entries and are reading and judging and debating as we speak! yes yes! So I will be sure to update with the results!
Edit:This week has been hellaciously busy- to the point where i haven't written a word. At all. Which of course disappoints me. so does bad spelling- of which i am queen- but I'm too sick right now to really care.
I woke up yesterday morning with a stiff neck, sore throat, and stuffy nose.
Those bastards.
Who? Waiting room coughers.
Monday I had a dentist appointment to finish the work on the amazing breaking tooth! Tuesday I got blood work AND a screwed up testing schedule which means I'll be going back sooner rather than later.
I'm afraid of needles, it's no secret. The worst are syringes and last night i had a HORRID nightmare about them.
Luckily they take blood in a somewhat sane way that involves a small needle connected to a tube with a valve on the end that a vacuum tube can be connected to and thus easily filled.
Still- big needle in. my. arm.
Twice. a total of 6 vials.
Why twice? because i had to go, eat, and come back two hours, exactly two hours, later to have the second draw.
Did I mention I'm afraid of needles? It sort of destroys my appetite.
I choked down Denny's as it was the closest thing, the only thing, open at 8 in the morning in Bryan/College Station- well there was an IHOP but no one seemed to know where it was let alone how to get there.
You're given 15 mins from first bite/drink to finish the meal.
Thirty mins after leaving the lab, i'm back, which means 1.5 hours of waiting in the...waiting...room. Which is right next to a general prac clinic.
During Flu Season.
What the fuck was I thinking?
The bruises on my arm were in the shape of a heart.
Monday I go back to get results this time and hopefully we'll have some news, any news, good or bad i don't care. I just never want to hear the word "inconclusive" again.
I'll be sure to share, you know.
Meanwhile the rest of Tuesday was wonderfully splendid. I spent it visiting with a friend, who I have greatly missed. He brings me sanity and comfort.
When we parted he hugged me.
And my day was good.
Then that evening I took my mother in law to go tanning- long story as to why- and the plan was that I would run to the market and pick up a few goodies (clementine season) and come back to get her.
Well, she somehow talked me into stripping down and getting into a tanning bed.
To say Tuesday was full of blond moments for me that would rival a scratch-n-sniff sticker at the bottom of a lake would be a massive massive understatement.
Why, you ask? Cancer? Nah. UV sensitivity. le DUH.
I have (another understatement) extreamely sensitive skin that does not allow me to be in the sun or extreme heat for long before developing- not a burn- but a dermatitis that rivals a nasty mosquito bite and lasts twice as long.
But- I look good, well, I will when i stop scratching.
Now December is approaching and with it the end of the semester. Just one week left before finals and I have two papers that must be written in that week. So no more room for writer's block of any sort.
I also vow to make progress in TGTD and begin to wrap it up- we're sitting at 54k- I'd like no more than 70k.
Why? I'd like to spend more time proofing, planning, and illustrating TGTD- Hear that Victor and Amelia? I'm coming for you!
Once the semester is over it's a matter of what to do about Christmas and then we'll be leaving for New Mexico. Now the question is- will Nathan be traveling with me? I hope so. If not it will be a harder week but a less pressed one for time.
During this time I will have my dd's scheduled and will be judging Litmas remotely. But I will be otherwise unavailable. So if you have any pressing matters you need to get them to me before say the 22ed. On the 29th I will be 21. I'll be spending it around a campfire with friends and probably a healthy amount of beer- if only for them.
